Mental health is the foundation for emotions, thinking, communication, learning, resilience, hope and self-esteem. It is also key to relationships, personal and emotional well-being and contributing to community or society. Many people who have a mental illness do not want to talk about it. But having a mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of! It is a medical condition, just like heart disease or diabetes and is treatable. As we are continually expanding our understanding of how the human brain works, treatments are available to help people successfully manage mental health conditions. While mental illness can occur at any age, three-fourths of all mental illness begins by age 24.
This woman peer-led support group is for any adult female with a loved one who has experienced symptoms of a mental health issue. Gain insight from the challenges and successes of others facing similar experiences. By sharing your experiences in a safe setting, you can gain hope and develop supportive relationships. This group allows your voice to be heard and provides an opportunity for your personal needs to be met. It encourages empathy, productive discussion, and a sense of community. You will benefit from other’s experiences, discover your inner strength, and empower yourself by sharing your own experiences in a non-judgmental space.
Our Mental Wellness Summit is comprised of a team of professionals who will share strategies of prioritizing and sustaining mental health. During the Summit, you will hear from the professionals with tools and resources to implement in everyday life. You will have the opportunity to engage one-on-one with the panel of professionals to discover other approaches to enhance your mental health and wellness.
Women must have a safe environment to discuss, inspire, and support each other, in order to foster a sense of community. As part of WAIH’s mission, we will provide women a welcoming environment to learn and grow through connecting, sharing stories, knowledge, and lessons through our book club. From each book, we will journey together through the pages providing hope, healing, freedom, and fun, and we will do it one book at a time.
